COMPOSITING

This tutorial was created July 24, 2005 by İgardenbyocean Designs.

This tutorial was written for PSP9 but can be done in earlier versions too.
You will need Paint Shop Pro 9, a 30 day trial program can be downloaded here

Two images of your choice. A large Graphic and a second image subject you would like to blend into the 1st graphic. (I chose the sailship graphic because I had yet to find a way to make it transparent so it could be of tube use, anyway it is perfect for this tutorial!

OK, Let's Sail!

1. Open your 1st graphic - shift "D" - and close the original. Next Open your 2nd image (shift "D" and close original). Resize the 2nd image so it is in scale to your scenery. After resizing >Use the "crop tool" to select the section you want to use.

2. Edit>Copy. Then select original image and go to Edit>Paste>Paste As New Layer.

3. Now the Mask will be created. Set Black as your foreground color. Then Go to Layers>New Mask layer>Show All. Nothing has changed visually yet so do not panic.

4. Select your Paint brush tool. I chose +round50 circle from the top tool bar (but do use a smaller brush until you get the feel for whats happening), >size 25 and >opacity 30, I started out at 30 but increased opacity to 100 as I got more comfortable with what was happening. Use your own comfort level with the brush size go smaller for small areas. Don't give up if it isn't an instant blend I just kept going around and around painting crazily and like magic it started to blend.

5. Add Text, Frame, Resize as desired and save as jpg.

Guess what? The voyage is over we are back in port! Hope you enjoyed the cruise!
